Colonel McGreal graduated from the University of Colonel McGreal also went on to supervise various units in the District including the Violent Crimes Initiative Unit, the District’sįield Training Officer Program, South Sector Patrol and all the District’s Specialty Units.Ĭolonel McGreal was born and raised in Hegewisch- the most southeastern neighborhood in the city of Chicago. During her time asĪ Trooper in District Chicago she was part of the District’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) an elite team focused on strategically identifying, targeting andĪpprehending violent criminals. Upon graduation from the Academy, she was assigned to District Chicago. Services Command, and prior to that she served as District Chicago Commander.Ĭolonel McGreal began her career with the Illinois State Police in May 1997. Before her appointment to Deputy Director, Colonel McGreal held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of Support Statewide, who work to provide comprehensive law enforcement services to the public as well as to fellow law enforcement agencies.Ĭolonel McGreal was appointed Deputy Director in May 2021. In this role Colonel McGreal currently oversees both Support Services Command and Patrol Operations Command, which consists of 11 strategically situated Troops Colonel Margaret McGreal is a 24-year veteran of the Illinois State Police and serves as the first female Colonel of the Division of Patrol (DOP). ![]()
